I've also used Salesforce, Zoho and others both for myself and for clients.

I believe that it would be a nice improvement to Sugar if converted leads were:
- Ignored in global search and other searches by default - this will help find only the record you should be working with
- locked so they cannot be edited anymore - this will help end users avoid accidentally using this record
- hidden from the lead view page by default

maybe there are a few lines of code to make this happen that I can do on my own???

one step better would be de-duplicate across leads and contacts, saved the converted date in the contact, and delete the lead.
