Default Feedback on 1-31-07 session here (SOAP APIs)

    Let the games begin!!

Julian and Majed have just completed today's SDUG session on SOAP APIs. The recording looks good and we'll be posting it and the code samples Majed used very shortly.

The Q&A will be available soon as well and we'll post that, too.

Thanks to all that attended. It was a very worthwhile session.

Thanks for attending! Majed and Julian crafted an informative session in record time. Majed even managed to show code in (gasp!) a new Windows box with (double gasp!) Wordpad. Quite a feat, that.

Here is the Q&A from the session (questions in bold). We'll review unanswered questions and respond shortly. Code snippets coming soon.

I want to capture leads from a website to Sugar. I started by using the mambo components but the problem is that every input field becomes a textfield, so for a dropdown field defined in Sugar, the options are lost... Any pointers how to best deal with this?

I have Version 4.5.0f (Build 1202) and it appears the soap dir does not include soap.php. Is that on a newer version? Soap.php itself is in the root application folder. All of the other files are in the soap subfolder. This allows all entry points to sit in the root of the application, which improves security and makes all of our paths consistent.

Where exactly are the functions he was showing previously?

does the seamless login function exist in on production soap.phps or is that custom? seamless_login is defined in the base product. It is located in soap/SoapSugarUsers.php.

where are they getting the $session_id prior to doing the seemless_login? The session id is returned from a login call using the SOAP API.

off the subject: when is 4.5.1 GA scheduled for release?
Announcements are planned today (Feb 1st).

I've used the Sugar Portal in the latest Sugar 4.5.0h / 4.5.1 RC. What I've noticed is that once I submit a case, that I'm immediately logged out of the SugarPortal application after submission. Is this a bug? Additionally, will there be a release of SugarPortal that will include Leads, Notes .. etc? First, the bug. Yes, there certainly appears to be a bug in the behavior you described. Can you please log a bug so we can track this. This is new to us so it's important to follow it.

The Sugar Portal framework will provide Lead capture when it is released. Keep an eye on the 451CP forum for details.

What version of Sugar are you planning on releasing the generic (get any relationship) get_relationships() SOAP API function? We are still working on that. It should either be released in a patch, or 5.0. My hope is that it will be in a patch. We may also release it in the forums before it is available in the product.

If a contact in Sugar had a portal username/password, would it give them full access to the SOAP API if they knew where it was?
No-- they would still need a valid Sugar username/password to connect to the API. A SOAP portal application first logs into Sugar, then checks for a Contact with the supplied portal username/password.

I'm working on a Mac, using version 10.4.

    The replay at:

    http://media.sugarcrm.com/SDUG/2007-...outs-Large.wmv

only gives me audio. Is there any way to get quicktime?

I'm trying to learn how to use SOAP with SugarCRM.

    Thanks,

    Wesley

Hi wesley, I'd love to but simply don't have the time to generate other formats.

I would like to see that soap_examples.php file that Julian used in this training session. Or is it somewhere available to download. I was planning on copying it from the video by hand. I hope I dont have to do this, as I am drawn to make mistakes.

Hey guys, I'm working on using seamless login within our own application.
Is the MSID that gets passed the session_id that is returned when you login via soap?
