What do you Want to Know about the SugarBean?

Hello everyone,

I am mapping out a plan of attack on the SugarBean. I am looking for developers input both experience and new developers. The experienced developers could help by pointing out questions they had when they began developing and using the SugarBean.

I will start it out by leading a few questions to start the ball rolling.

What the Heck is a SugarBean?
What does the SugarBean Do?
Why do I need to use the SugarBean in a module I want to write?

How to implement a "callout" from SugarBean (to execute standalone, upgrade-safe functions at critical points, like save, delete, etc.)?
How is this done in Workflow, for instance?

All execlent questions. Are there anymore questions or points as a developer that you found difficult to understand when you were learning about the sugarbean?

I would like to see some Sugar Team Members input on this as well. What were the more dificult parts of the bean you had to wrap your head arround when you started working in SugarCRM development?

Thanks a lot for insightful session about Sugar Bean.

There was a lot of great stuff for people who knew they way around SugarBean. Just as a suggestion you will have to include some session for the topics like

* How is a SugarBean mapped to a database table?
* Where is a custom field saved and how does a SugarBean know about it?
* How does a SugarBean have a relation with another one?

That would be benefitial to newcommers. Based on personal experience - I had to dig a lot of time through the code to get how it works.

Yuri,

We will be covering the maping to tables and cusom fields in the next session. The first session was ment to be a primer for developing in SugarCRM with a simple but useful business logic hooks that demonstrate extensions to modules.
