Default CE 6.2.4 upgrade wiz screen won't show!

Wow. I've been updating Sugar CE for 5 years now and never had this happen.

I go to the Admin screen and click "Upgrade Wizard" and the system asks to download a empty file called index.php.

The link that the Upgrade Wizard icon converts to is:

    http://xxx.com/sugar50a-test/index.php?module=UpgradeWizard&action=index

After that, nothing. No error. I'm still on the Admin screen.

Works fine on my local iMac running under XAMPP.

What is happening? I'm totally confused.

Help! I want to upgrade to 6.3... but I don't see how (unless I try the silent upgrade which never worked well for me in the past.)

    Any ideas?

    Hi,
did you try to check whether there would be a remaining file form your last upgrade ?

I had a blank page within upgrade wizard because this file should have been deleted after updating :
    cache/upload/upgrades/temp/upgrade_progress.php

deleting it manually gave me the possibility to upgrade from 6.2.4 to 6.3

maybe it worst giving a try.

THANK YOU. That worked, however it still hung on the last step of "Update Summary." Made no difference as it looks like it all got installed.

Let me ask this: Should cache/upload/upgrades/temp directory be empty when done or should it have a bunch of folders in it along with the "upgrade_progress.php" file?

After doing this upgrade on my webserver there are a 4 folders plus the "progress.php" file. On my local iMac running XAMPP the directory is empty after the update. So I don't know WHAT went wrong or what might happen next time.

    Thanks,

    Al

actually you can delete everything in this directory.
this is exactly what happens when you go back to the upgrade wizard after that.

to me, the problem is in file
    /module/UpgradeWizard/end.php

    line 146 happens
but it can't reach line 255 where upgrade progress should be marked as 'done'

I'll have a look at this later and will repost if I find something

Thanks for the help. This is the first time in five years of using CE that I had an upgrade problem. I never had it "hang" before our give me any issues. It always "just worked."

I was very surprised when it tried to download a zero-byte file and was just as surprised after following your instructions that it still 'hung' on the Summary step.

Question. If I remove all the stuff in the /temp folder referenced above, can I re-install to see if it goes all the way or will that possibly corrupt something? I've always wondered that about Sugar... never had to reinstall before.

I kind of worry that maybe something was not done during the install and it will come back to bite me later on?
