Default Documents no longer work after 6.4.0 upgrade from 6.0.x

    Hi

It appears that the method for naming uploaded documents and the database entries have changed, but the documents in the /cache/upload directory are no longer referenced.

Not sure what has happened but the document names, the string of random characters, no longer match with the ones that are in the database.

I guess that for 9 documents I can fix them manually, but I'd like to understand what went wrong. Any ideas ?

    Thanks

Perhaps you can move all documents in cache/uplad to upload folder, which is the default folder for uploaded notes and documents on 6.4. Double check which path is defined on config.php for upload_dir.

    Hi

    Thanks, yes that is correct.

The rebuild of the config.php file for 6.4.0 would appear to modify the upload directory setting to "upload" rather than "cache/upload" that is the commonly accepted directory in earlier versions. Shame that an upgrade makes a major change like this but does not migrate the data.

Moving the existing files from the old dir to the new worked. I am sure that changing the config.php would have the same result but given that the Sugar upgrade assumes some specific results I am not willing to try and redirect the setting to somewhere else for fear of another change impacting this in the future.

I think the use of upload or cache/upload is inappropriate in any case. Mixing the end-user data documents with uploaded temp files, upgrade zips and other assorted uploads seems to create an administration nightmare. Having a distinct 'documents' directory would also enable a separate data back up. Noting that I had to copy the specific files from the cache/upload as I could not do just a wildcard selection without getting some upgrade zip files as well.
