I am trying to install SurgarCRM 4.5.1b on my MacBook Pro 2.0GHz with OS X 10.4.9. I downloaded the Bitrock installer and ran the installation. After everything was installed by the installer, it opened a web browser window with http://192.168.0.6:8080/sugarcrm/install.php in the address bar. I got to step 3 and am not able to get past it. I don't know if I need to check the create database or user boxes and what the root directory password is. I have tried all different combinations and have not had any luck. I used the same password as my Mac OS X administrator password, so there is no other password to enter. I know that if it needs a password that I created in the setup or on my OS, it is typed correctly here. I have tried to install this several times and even on two different MacBooks with no success. The full error message is as follows:
Database admin user name and/or password is invalid (Error 1045: Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: YES)).
I have read and searched the forums and web and can't find the answer to this. I have read that I may need to set permissions in MySQL, but I don't even know how to get to the MySQL prompt. I am not a programmer or developer. I just want to try this out and eventually have someone else help me customize this for my business. I ma frustrated. I have been using the online evaluation of SugarCRM and like it very much. However, I really want to use some of the plugins available because of some of my specific needs. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
