Error installing Modules in 6.3.1

Hello,

I know there are more that a few thread regarding problems installing modules. I promise I read and tried a few things before I put up this post. But I am having a hard time installing any modules with the module loader. I am using filezilla to change permissions and view/edit files.

I don't have any log files in my directory where sugar is installed.
I checked the php.ini file and I have 50MB for max uploads.

I get error messages like this:

Failed to copy /var/www/vhosts/site.com/httpdocs/sugar/cache/upload/upgrades/temp/wn1nMt/icons custom/themes

Failed to copy /var/www/vhosts/site.com/httpdocs/sugar/cache/upload/upgrades/temp/Q3hjZd/widgets/SugarWidgetSubPanelSyncOSCButton.php to include/generic/SugarWidgets/SugarWidgetSubPanelSyncOSCButton.php

including: /var/www/vhosts/site.com/httpdocs/sugar/cache/upload/upgrades/temp/St0d2x/scripts/pre_install.php
#0101 Error during Installation : Unable to write into '/include/globalControlLinks.php'


I am new this is my first sugar install. I have installed and successfully setup Drupal, Wordpress, and a few other open source systems. I am not all knowing but I familiar with how these types of installs work. Each one is quirky in its own way.

If anyone doesn't mind helping me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

There are two issues in there:

• write permission issue. Make sure SugarCRM folder is writable by apache user and also update config.php in order to setup appropriate file and dir permissions and default user and group for new files and folders;
• that package try to update include/globalControlLinks.php that is not a good idea. The best approach is updating custom/include/globalControlLinks.php

Thank you so much andopes, I changed permissions and now everything installs so smoothly. I was so excited, until... Zucker Reports. I really want to get that installed and I can't for some reason. I am on sugar 6.3.1. and I can not get it to install at all.

If you or anyone else can guide me in the right direction it would be really helpful.

I just want to add for future viewer that I had success with every module except zucker reports.

The key was to make apache for the group and owner. Once I did that I didn't have any problems installing modules.

The zucker reports manual is $64 and I didn't want to pay for that before I could get the module loaded and see if I needed it. Maybe in the future if I see a need for it I will consider it. I have installed the Alinea Sol modules for reports, workfow, etc. and I fond the reporting to be just what I was looking for.
