Default Issue with Sugar on linux and database on MSSQL

I have sugar 6.3 ready for installation on a linux server and a Windows 2008 R2 64-bit server with a SQL Server Express 2008 database also ready for installation, however, when going through the SugarCRM installation wizard, only MySQL shows up on the Database Type selection screen. How can I get it to recognize a remote MSSQL server?

Any and all help is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

You need to install the FreeTDS driver for PHP on your Linux box. That'll allow you to connect to MSSQL from a linux machine.

Once you've got that configured, the MSSQL option will automatically appear in the installer. Remember that you have to restart your web service to apply PHP changes.

Out of curiosity, why are you not using the Windows box for the web server component? It seems you are complicating your life a bit and may also not get the best possible performance.

Actually yesterday we decided to move it all to Windows. Unfortunately I'm pulling my hair out getting it set up on Windows Server 2008 (64-bit) with IIS 7.5 and SQL Server Express 2008. For some reason, I'm still getting the same issue (only detects MySQL) even though I followed instructions explicitly regarding installing PHP from Microsoft, installing the SQL drivers, editing php.ini to include the correct extensions and yet it still won't see MSSQL! Any ideas?
