Default New installation display is not working

I installed version SugarCE-6.4.0RC3.zip and everything seemed to go OK but when I start tp use the program the display is not showing the formatted tables, lines or backgrounds.

Here is a Jing snapshot of part of the home page:

    2012-01-26_1623 - JQAdams's library

and here is a shot of further down the page:

    2012-01-26_1624 - JQAdams's library

So, what am I missing? During installation there were no errors or cautions and all preliminary settings checked OK.

Any help or ideas will REALLY be appreciated!

It looks like you are not able to load the CSS for the site. This is probably a permission issue. You could confirm this by looking at the apache/iis log and seeing if there are error in there.

If you are on Linux you could also do a

    chmod -Rfv 755 /you/web/suagrcrm/directory

and that might fix it too.

I have checked all the permissions and they are 755 for most files and folders or 644 for a few files.

Here are a few of the error log entries:

[Fri Jan 27 13:31:20 2012] [error] [client 75.69.6.7] File does not exist: /home/kjenter/public_html/403.shtml, referer: http://kjenterprises.net/sugar/index.php?action=ajaxui

[Fri Jan 27 13:31:20 2012] [crit] [client 75.69.6.7] (13)Permission denied: /home/kjenter/public_html/sugar/cache/themes/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable, referer: http://kjenterprises.net/sugar/index.php?action=ajaxui

[Fri Jan 27 13:31:20 2012] [error] [client 75.69.6.7] File does not exist: /home/kjenter/public_html/403.shtml, referer: http://kjenterprises.net/sugar/index.php?action=ajaxui

[Fri Jan 27 13:31:20 2012] [crit] [client 75.69.6.7] (13)Permission denied: /home/kjenter/public_html/sugar/cache/jsLanguage/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable, referer: http://kjenterprises.net/sugar/index.php?action=ajaxui

The only .htaccess file I have seen is in the root directory.

I had the same issue on my first sugar install a few weeks ago.
The way I fixed it was by changing permissions on "cache" folder recursively to 755

    Hope this helps

    Problem solved!

It turned out that the permissions needed to be set 775 (instead of 755) for 4 folders and the files within those folders had to be set to 664 rather than 644.

Using Filezilla's recursive capabilities, it did not take too long.

Thanks for all the helpful ideas.

What folders did you have to change?? in the Cache folder the permissions are all over the place.
