Quite frustrated with the installer

Hello people.

I'm getting quite frustrated with the installer. I've been hassling with this for 2 days now on 2 different webserver on which I've installed a lot of other MySQL-things like phpBB3, Joomla etc.

Everything is set up right, and yet I keep getting this error:

Warning: mysqli_connect() [function.mysqli-connect]: (42000/1044): Access denied for user 'tabulaportal3'@'%' to database 'Tabulaportal3' in /home/3/t/tabulaportal/www/crm/include/database/MysqliManager.php on line 297

...and no tables are created in the databases - allthough the installer tells me that it's "done" creating these. Like I wrote above, I've installed numerous other things on these servers/databases so the db user HAS writing right etc and the installer tells me that everything is ok, but at the final step of the installer it simply stops at this status:

Creating Sugar configuration file (config.php)

Creating Sugar application tables, audit tables and relationship metadata
Creating the database Tabulaportal3 on tabulaportal3.mysql.domeneshop.no...done

I've tried to create numerous different database-names, the one Tabulaportal3 is on the server already, which is why I tried to install like that. Didn't work either.

My log tells me this:
'Tabulaportal3'
Tue Oct 11 11:53:07 2011 [3125][-none-][FATAL] Could not connect to DB server tabulaportal3.mysql.domeneshop.no as tabulaportal3. port : Access denied for user 'tabulaportal3'@'%' to database 'Tabulaportal3'

I find this quite annoying and hard to explain as other tools such as phpBB3 etc. never had problems connecting to these databases. Can anyone tell me why this sugerCRM can't manage?

Which version are you running?

I was running into a similar issue, then I input "LocalHost" as the server address, and it connected right up.
Depending on what server management software you are using (Cpanel, etc) you may have to enter your username as siteadminlogin_dbusernamelogin and the database name as siteadminlogin_dbname.

Thanks for the input. Do you mean that I should change this in the config.php-file?

Usually the installer will prompt you for the info, because then the installer script will connect and create the tables in the DB, and it will also save the login info to the config file.
