Default Salesforce to CE to Sugar Pro?

Just wondering if this is a good/bad idea. We have 6 months left with Salesforce and then I'm switching to Sugar. Was thinking I might do it sooner like in 4 months or so. Since CE is free, I'm just curious if using CE first and then upgrading to Pro is first of all possible, or recommended?

Just thinking I can start using CE now, adding all my custom fields, making sure my data imports, then a month or two before hand have my users start using CE. Yes there will be some limitations but we can deal with those, and then I'm wondering if it's just a matter of buying Sugar Pro and upgrading it? Or would I run into issues where things might break and the data gets messed up etc?

I know a company which already migrated from SalesForce (because it is expensive) to sugar PRO. Then afer was another work to move from sugar PRO to CE, because this way there is no need to buy licences.

Thus I just want to alert for you check the real goals of this company/customer, because whether the main goal is cost reducing, maybe customize sugar CE to have all needed features is cheaper than pay $360 x user x year. Imagine that a company could have hundred users.
