This post outlines your upgrade path to the latest Sugar release, version 6.4.1 for on-site deployments of Sugar Community Edition.

If you are starting at version:

Note: If you use Sugar On Demand (https://sugarondemand.com), then upgrades are managed by the SugarCRM team. Nothing for you to worry about!

http://www.sugarforge.org/frs/downlo...1-to-5.1.0.zip just passes you to the download page... This is the one I need. I've been looking at other sites like sourceforge to find an alternate download, but to no avail.

Do you have a mirror possibly?

Where can I find a fresh download of 5.1.0b? I need to supply it to our IT ops people who are putting our present 5.1.0b Enterprise installation under svn control before we perform an upgrade. Our installation is modified with a number of code fixes Sugar Support had us make to resolve various issues and our IT ops group needs a fresh download for the baseline version.

    Thank you.

Look at the Release Archive section of http://www.sugarforge.org/frs/?group_id=6

    I've made it visible again.

Does the 5.1.0 upgrade file cover 5.1.0a, 5.1.0b etc?

Is there a link to some info about how I can backup my system and restore my running 5.1.0a system in case disaster strikes? We are using the system daily. Scared to take the plunge without safety vest!

Will customizations made in Studio follow without hassle? Basic stuff, a few extra fields, drop downs etc?

    Thanks

    Johan

    Hi,
Yes if you can upgrade 5.1.0 version to 5.2 it cover all the patches of 5.1.0a, 5.1.0b or c . So no worry about this.

You can copy the main folder of sugarcrm as a backup or if you found any problem then paste it. Regarding you custom fields, if it is safely implemented or implemented through studio then its definitely visible on upgraded version of sugarcrm.

All patches are cumulative. So installing patch C for a given release will include the fixes in patch B and A.

All customizations/configurations made with the Sugar admin tools (Studio, Module Builder, Workflow, etc) are upgrade-safe.

But, you should always perform an upgrade on a test system first to ensure there are no issues with your production system.

You can backup your system by creating a zip/tarball of the file system and backing up the database. For MySQL, using the mysqldump -e command is the simplest way to backup your database.

I originally installed Sugar 4.5.1 using the full stack installers that installed PHP 4, MySQL, Apache and Sugar. I managed to upgraded to Sugar 5.0 without problems using the upgrade wizard.

But since trying to go to Sugar 5.1, I've had problems, most likely the result of PHP being the wrong version.

Since the Sugar stack installer put PHP in, is there a way to get the latest PHP installed so I can move forward to 5.2?

Is there a way to backup my 5.0 database, do a clean 5.2 full stack installer and then get my data back into that version? I'd almost prefer this method since I'd have a nice clean Sugar install with the latest MySQL, PHP, Apache, etc.

I'd like to keep current, but I've been stuck on 5.0 for a long time because the upgrade wizard fails, which has been reported to be a need for the latest PHP, etc., but again, there's no way for me to move forward easily unless there's a way to get PHP updated (wherever/however it was installed by Sugar).

If there are any good ideas, I'd be happy to give it a try.

Is there a way to get a full stack installer for 5.0 still? Maybe I could backup my 5.0 system, install fresh using the 5.0 full stack installer (does it have the latest PHP, can I still get such an installer?), which should allow me to restore my 5.0 backup, and then perhaps do the upgrades to 5.2?

What plan of attack is recommended?

    6/4/2009 updated:

I found that I could not upgrade from 5.0 to 5.2 and it's because of a PHP version issue. This is particularly true if you used one of the "install it all" packages (the ones that install mysql, apache, php and sugarcrm itself).

The upgrades never would work, but I did find this worked well:

    1) Backup the 'mysql/data' and 'htdocs/sugarcrm' folders where the installer put your 4.5 or 5.0 system.

    2) If possible, in a new area, install the latest 5.2 clean. This gives you the upgraded Apache, mysql and most importantly php.

    3) In the 5.2 area, blow away the mysql/data and htdocs/sugarcm and replace with the backups from your 4.5/5.0 sugarcrm. At this point, you essentially have reverted the 5.2 to the older code, but with the new php.

    4) Login as the admin and do the 5.0 to 5.2 upgrade -- it works this time because PHP is right.

Hope this helps....since nobody seemed to be able to fix this using regular upgrades since nobody could explain how to get the latest versions of php and such installed. There may be other ways, but this worked for me.
