Default Sugar support of local SDUG chapters

Hi all, thanks go to Max and Ken for their work to jump-start the SDUG local chapters. Sugar is available to provide logisitical support and to line up featured speakers either from Sugar directly or from our extended partner and business community.

Logisitical support includes renting hotel space, providing A/V assistance, and presentation content prep and assistance, including access to key Sugar resources to help you fill in any blanks.

So, let us know what you need by posting your requests here and Sugar will be sure to follow-up.

    Hi there,

I have asked Clint Oram, who runs our European operations, to post a response regarding specific interest in Portugal. I know we have at least one SDUG group (in Finland) and likely more on the way.

Regarding the purpose of these groups, they are for users, developers and administrators of Sugar products to get together to share information, tips and tricks, and expertise. We have online meetings every few weeks (check here for the list of upcoming sessions) where we invite a guest speaker to present a topic of interest. If you plan to hold a local meeting of interested developers, we can help you to make your event successful. Just contact me and we'll help you out.

For now I only have a few collegues, but we work on the same place so our meeting are always easy.

    Hi there,

Yes, these meetings are for everyone who has an interest in Sugar, be it Pro, Enterprise or Open Source editions. Most meetings are held online using GoToWebinar from Citrix, which currently supports Mac and PC users (check out this page for system requirements). If we find that a lot of people are interested in joining on Linux boxes, we'll find another meeting tool that can handle that platform.

We are also looking at regional meetings in the US and Europe (and wherever we can find a group of interested folks who want to meet in person). Our first in-person meeting was in the spring in Chicago, followed by one in Finland in April; we're in the planning stages for one in Miami in the fall. I'm hoping we get enough interest in Europe to have more of them!

Hi, I'm not sure but I think that there are a lot of linux useres and it would be great that it would be a multi-platform tool.

I don't know if there are more interested people but I think that it would be great to begin creating this group in portugal.

So what do I need to start the creation of this group

    With best regards,
    Mário Martins aka mapm

    Hi Mário,

I'm glad you're interested in forming a group! I'll contact you via email on Monday with further details.

For others who want to start groups, please send a private message or email to me and I'll help get you set up. We are also planning some events in Europe for September and October, and I'll post information here as soon as I know the dates and places. I know we're trying to get a two-day Administrator Training session set up in London sometime during the week of September 10th (I will be teaching the class!) and there are other events and classes that we'll be scheduling as well. When I know more details I'll post them.
