    Talking License compatibility AGPL3

    Hi,

I was asked to propose a CRM system for a small company. They are looking for an own hosted CRM . The company wants to integrate CRM with their in-house written software. When the company grows in the future, maybe they will buy a Professional or Enterprise Edition. Now they fear to use SugarCRM Community Edition, because of potential licensing problems between AGPL SugarCRM and their closed source programs.

So I have some license compatibility questions regarding SugarCRM :

    1. Can a closed source non-GPL3 program access the SugarCRM database ?
    2. Can a non-GPL3 (written in PHP) program be hosted on the same apache server deamon with AGPL3 SugarCRM system ?

Yes and Yes. No restrictions on how it can be used which is the whole point of the AGPL. It doesn't sound like they are going to use it for any purpose other than their own internal CRM so they may do as they please with it as far as integration goes.

I am SO glad you posted these questions because I was wondering the same thing. I always find that when I come up with a question or concern with SugarCRM I can usually find the issue already in a thread each time I log on. Haha. Thank you for beating me to the questions because it made the search a whole lot easier on my end.
