How to create cascading dropdowns?

Hi
I need to find out how create a cascading dropdown.
I managed to create an array of values withing an array of values for each value in the dropdown, and it sems to work fine in editing or adding, but doesn't save the value - the value is gone when viewing the record again.
Alternatively, (and perhaps a better solution), is to have 2 dropdwon lists, and when a value from the one is picked, then it brings up the corresponding dropdown values in the next one.
Any help here would be appreciated.

DevToolKit works fine for SugarCRM CE, PRO and ENT, versions 5.x.
I didn´t try on 6.0, but I´ll evaluate that asap.
DevToolKit customizations are not affected by upgrades on sugar.

DevtoolKit works on 6.0.x and hopefully also work on 6.1.
