    Default Integration w/ Website Form

I imagine that this question/concept *must* have been handled somewhere before, but I'm new enough to SugarCRM that I haven't found where in the forums/on the web it has been answered before.

My Question: How can I integrate an email drop on my website (eg. "Enter your email address here to receive our free monthly newsletter!") with the crm system? Ie. I would like to create a contact if the email address isn't already attached to one (and then assigning it to a default user, and then notifying the user of course- but I believe this happens automatically).

General Info: I'm using the LAMP stack w/Drupal and SugarCRM Community Edition. Directions to where I can find either an already developed solution or a hack solution would be equally appreciated.

Apologies if I have duplicated a prior discussion topic....

    Thanks!

    Hi Daniel,

Please check out the "Web to Lead Form" capability of the software. This part of the documentation has some details.

I have the same question, and it seems to me that the Web to Lead Form isn't the right tool for this, mainly because it creates Leads, not newsletter subscribers. Maybe I'm not understanding the purpose of a lead, but wouldn't I want to create targets on the Newsletter Subscription list?

One problem the web-to-lead form has is that it requires the Last Name field. I've found that if you require the user to enter in more than just an email address, they're less likely to subscribe. What the original poster asked for (and I want as well) is a mechanism to take an email address from a simple one-field form on the web site that allows people to subscribe to the newsletter. This action should add them to the Subscription list for the newsletter.

The second problem I've found is that when you use the Web to Lead Form and select the newsletter campaign, it just adds a lead and associates it with the campaign, but does not add them to the target list for subscription.

Is there actually any way at all in SugarCRM to get email addresses submitted by an end-user browsing our website to be added to the subscription list for a given newsletter? How does SugarCRM do this themselves? The one SugarCRM Newsletter subscription page I found is now obsolete.

    Hi,
I'm writing a PHP helper class that will allow decent web form to Sugar integration via the Sugar SOAP API.
It searches via email, subscribes, unsubscribes, updates Leads and Contact's details and various other stuff.

If I can just change everything over to the SOAP v2 API then it'll pretty much ready. Although it's currently setup to run in Wordpress's CFormsII contact form plugin, but shouldn't be too hard to re-program for Drupal if you know how (I'm not a Drupal programmer, so I don't).

If your interested then let me know.
    Cheers!
