Module: GetSocial Twitter

The GetSocial Twitter module is built for companies that are doing social marketing using Twitter.

Usage:
1. Install the module which will be shown under a tab named Tweet.
2. go to <base install>/custom/modules/soc_tweet/tweetit.php and change the username and password you reflect your Twitter account credentials.

This module was built for two reasons. The first is because some companies use social marketing and I thought that they should be able to Tweet from within SugarCRM. The second is that it is uses a logic hook, 3rd party API, and a modified manifest, all while being small enough to be a good example app to people who are starting to learn about these areas.

Too bad: this module doesn't allow installation on my version (I just upgraded to 5.0.0f)...
The module loader tells me:
The uploaded file is not compatible with this flavor (Community Edition, Professional, or Enterprise) of Sugar: CE

Anything I am not doing right?

You are not doing anything wrong, I didn't have CE as an option in the installer. Try the attached version.

I just got the 1.3 from SugarForge - after installation doing the setup: nothing happens. Is the regular version (not Pro) expected to work out of the box to push/pull messages from the twitter account defined in admin panel? Also the linked website alt-invest.net seems to be dead!

I am running on SugarCRM CE 5.2.0f and this would be a very nice tool!

The GetSocial Twitter module is not designed to be a standard Twitter client that automatically grabs every update from your friends timeline. The focus is on the business use of Twitter so it only tracks @'s to your account and outbound Tweets. The pro version extends that with search and other capabilities.

The ALT-Invest website is being moved to a new server at the moment but should be back up shortly.

thank ya for scripting this module, after CHOWN change from apache to FTPuser all was fine and working!

but there is one small thing, we are using more than one twitteraccount for our branches.
is it possible to assign different instances of soc_tweet to different users?
or is there another way to handle that?

i do need 5 different accounts, each assigned to a few users. sometimes there are users, they should tweet to many twitteraccounts.

Thank you for providing feedback. We have not added a way to handle more than one account to any of our Twitter modules.

We have thought of adding Twitter accounts to the User profile and to the Global accounts setup through the admin panel. I am very interested to hear how you would like to have it setup.

as there is Xmas soon and you ask my wishes, i would suggest to setup global accounts and, bestcase, assign to users, a group or a project.

otherwise it would be just enough to have a dropdown, to select from which twitter account the tweet has to be sent. dont know how to handle the inserts and the relations into the DB. guess i cannot just have different instances of the codesnippet of tweetit.php?
