I have uploaded the first version of a small module that allows notes to be sent out as SMS or FAX (with attachments) to the forge at http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/smsfaxnotes/

SMS is fully working using any gateway that supports an http get api.
Fax will be working in a couple of days using mail api gateways.
