SYNOLIA - New Field Available: SynoFieldPhoto

For this new year SYNOLIA is happy to release a FREE package of the SynoFieldPhoto: with the free extension you can add Pictures to any standard modules.

This project is based on the discussion thread (Visit Link) abandonned in october 2007.
Some new features have been implemented in the package: you can add Photos fields via the Studio, search for records with a Picture, view the pictures in the ListViews etc...

Very cool stuff lougaou. If you don't need it to be upgrade safe then the Synolia solution may be right for you. Otherwise, for an upgrade safe solution check out the tutorial or the module in my signature.

Actually it s not upgrade safe because we MUST edit 3 standard files in order to see the picture in the List View and in the Search views.
it is not possible today with 520k to have your picture in an upgrade safe way in the list and Search Views.
With the 550 or maybe 551 it should be possible.
Any suggestion to improve this free module is welcome.

Correct, which is my point. If you don't care about that then your solution may be a great fit. If you (the user who needs the field) want it to be upgrade safe then I suggest the above tutorial, etc.

this is great!

some problems:
1. picture can be added only to existing record, it means you have to create a record and save it, before you can add an image
2. too easy to occidentally delete picture "Vider", there is no confirmation

suggestions:
1. would be great to have a bigger picture popup when clicking on a thumbnail

my ideal solution is to have an option to capture image from a webcam too, I think this can be done in flash

So is the picture available in the ListView without touching stock files?

kbrill - Looks like it is upgrade safe. I was checking this one out since I was working on an AutoDealership CRM that uploads and stores images for the drivers license. I wanted to be able to use the image field just like any other field in Sugar. Looks like this might be the way to go. I checked out the manifest and it's overriding the ListView.php file of include/MVC/View/views/view.list.php

So, you will need to be aware of this since future Sugar versions could change this core file (the search function in particularly) in the future, they will need to update this file (even though it's upgrade safe doesn't mean this will work if they override core functions).

However, this is better than it was before! 2 Thumbs up!

yes you are right but this is the only way to do it so far i think

Did anybody else have problems installing the module? There was a problem with something being in the wrong case in the manifest.php file. It took me a while to figure out how to fix it, but I got it installed.

I was able to add a photo field to my edit and detail views. I can browse and click on a photo, and it shows up below, but when I save the record it doesn't save the photo. Any ideas?
