Default Is 5.5 slower than previous versions?

I've run Sugar for the past 3 years on a very fast dedicated FreeBSD server and we've always had the most up-to-date versions of the community edition. There is never more than two people on the CRM system at any one time... and 90% of the time it is just one person (me.)

The latest 5.5.0 version seems a bit slower when rendering list and edit screens than previous versions. I think 5.2.0k was faster. It is not uncommon for a major upgrade of an application to have some code bottlenecks in it.

Has anyone noticed the newest Sugar being slower than the previous?

Did you checked the size of the pages being generated, for me this is one of the main problems with SugarCRM

Sorry. I don't understand what you mean by "size" of the pages.

For a browser to display the information you see it will download a lot of scripts and stuff, the sum of all this information is huge, so it takes long over a slow connection...

With compression this download should have better times...

Try a plugin to firefox called yslow and you will see what I'm telling you, try the same plugin again with google and you will see the size of a page by google...

If you have only 2 people on the application and it's on a fast server then you really need to look at this ... sugar is very fast under that kind of load ... do the db and application live on the same spindle? ... How large is the db? ... what else is running on the server ... have you looked at the sugar performance tips

The DB is tiny... several hundred accounts and several hundred leads. The sqldump file is 6MB. That's pretty small. Nothing of any importance is running on the server. Nothing has changed since I upgraded to 5.5.0 except the speed. It doesn't crawl... but the screens render slower by what seems to be a couple of seconds. It is same with Safari and Firefox.

I'll look at the tips link you posted.

    Thanks.

Try Google Chrome, it handles Sugar far better then any other major browser.

Google Chrome... Thanks for that tip SugarDev.

From what I've seen, you should get execution times around 0.5 seconds if things are configured properly. If you are not, then check into the performance tips mentioned above.
