    Default Access to SugarCRM from external computer

    Hey there,

    a simple question, but I haven't found a solution so far.
    I've installed the community version on my server PC and I have already created some new users.
    Can they access to the data base from other computers and if so, how? I got a link like

    http://192.168.1.136:80/sugarcrm/index.php

    telling me, I could access from that site. However when I type it in another, external computer, it doesn't let me in. It tells me that there is no program no the computer to open the website properly.

    What can I do to solve the problem? Do I have access or is there a program missing on my external computer?

    Thank you and sorry for boring you with such simple questions.

    It is the same problem, except you are using 192.. instead of 127..

    I¨m not sure if it¨s the same problem. When I did the installation I already entered the right IP of my computer, being 192.168.1.136
    In the config.php file there is already a line as such as

    'site_url'

    => 'http://192.168.1.136:80/sugarcrm'

    Shall I change it? And if, how? What does the "80" say at the end of the IP-number?

    That IP address falls into a range of IP addresses known as "non-routable IP address." In layman's terms it means that one can't connect to a computer with that address unless you are already on the same network, for example, the two machines in question would have to be connected to the same network at your office.

    Obviously, an external computer wouldn't be connected to your network, hence the problem. You need to specify an address that is equally visible to your internal users as well as your external users.

    If you go to www.whatismyip.com while at the server, you will see the IP address of the server as seen from the outside world. Assuming there aren't any other barriers (i.e. firewalls, etc.), you should be able to use that IP address and all of your users should be able to access it.

    If you need further assistance, you should consult with someone that can provide hands on assistance as the manner in which to adjust your firewall or the like will vary greatly depending on what you are using.
