Hi,

I am wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. I need to divide my accounts into categories and then give access to people based on the category.
i.e. Group A should be able to see one Category and another Group should be able to see anther Category. I cannot see how to secure accounts in this way. I can only see "None, Owned and All" in the roles.

Any ideas?

As far as I know you cannot do this in the open source version. I believe the "team" functionality is in the other versions of sugarcrm though.

I am just looking at the very same issue. I have the prof version, but I have not been able to assign access of contacts and accounts based on categories. I am not fully sure of my conclusion though, but if this is the case, there is a clear need to add this functionality.

There must be a plugin that does this as it seems to be a pretty common requirement.

Has anyone written one or know if this has ever been started anywhere?

Looks like these folks have created it but for 3.5 series.

Yes, exactly what I am looking for too. Or maybe is it possible to add new TAB with Account2 and to which you limit access in roles or just hide the tab for specific users. Is that "Team Security" patch going to be out for 4.2 any time soon?

However, is it possible to buy just that module "Team Secuirty" from Sugar ? And how much would it cost?

I need this Patch for 4.2.0a also. Anyway to put together some funds to get these folks to upgrade it? I need it sooner than later.

The only way I can suggest you could get this to work with the current version (PRO & Enterprise) is to use the team functionality, i.e. define a team for each category of accounts!

I think your requirement is something the team at Sugar should look at in more detail, as welll as having the ability to restrict access down to the field level!

Working with teams is a work-around solution.
