I am looking at using Sugar to manage my small photography business. This will mean a lot of customisation of the regular 6.1.2 CE version. I have a number of choices as to how to apply the customisation in order that Sugar will fit my business model, so in order to make the best choices I was wondering if anyone in the community here would be willing to offer some advice or opinion as to which way I should go. This is the scenario:
I have a small (fairly static) client-base and know that Sugar will look after these clients out of the box. The other side of my business, which is much larger is the side where I recruit models. I then submit these models to my clients to see if they will commission me to photograph these models (a shoot may possibly involve more than one model).
So I was thinking of using a customised 'Leads' module to store initial model information, either entered manually, or generated by a web form that I hope will be possible to create so that applicants can apply through my web site (point 1). I am hoping to implement a way for the model to upload images via this web form also as part of their application, which I hope to have feed into my customised 'leads' module.
Once I start communication with a model, I would then plan to convert the lead to a 'contact' and 'account'. This is where I am fuzzy! I'm not sure if I should place all the customised data that the model entered in the web form in to the 'accounts' record, customising the 'accounts' module to accommodate this extra info; or whether this info should be converted to form part of the model's 'contact' record, instead customising the 'contacts' module to accommodate this additional information. This information would include things like the models sizes, physical attributes, work preferences, past experience information, contact details etc.
Is anyone willing to offer their opinion on this, plus also advise whether point 1 (above) would be possible technically without too much clever coding.
If I know that sugar is capable of what I need, then I would also be willing to offer the customisation work out to an expert, if one is available on these forums willing to take on the task. Of course I would pay the going rate (whatever that is!)
Thanks in advance, Paul A
