Auto-populate in 5.1

Does 5.1 provide the capability to configure auto-populating field values between modules. For example:

I have two custom modules: A (parent) and B (child): one-to-many relationship. Both have Field X defined. When creating a module B record from either a subpanel or Relate field, Field X (module B) should be populated with the value from Field X (module A).

Can configure this functionality via Sudio or Module builder
