Question BACKUP SugarCRM backups up everything?

Hi all - I need to backup SugarCRM amd was wondering if I just backup the entire installation directory/folder where I installed it, if that backs up everything I would need in the event of (for example) a Server Crash ... or if settings or data or anything else is stored OUTSIDE of that directory/folder?

Everything ist stored in the Sugar root directory, except the database which must be backuped by mysql itself.
Be sure to backup <sugar_root>/cache/upload as there are the uploaded documents, notes, installations.

Yep the installation directory contains everything.. except the MySQL database.

    I would recommend:
    1) copying/zipping up the installation directory.
    2) Then running a mysqldump to backup the database to a SQL file.

These two files are everything you need to backup your sugar installation. Also best to test a backup and restore onto a different/cloned server to make sure the backup works.

    Hi All,

i still misunderstand... i have Sugar CRM 5.5.

This CRM has build-in tools for Backup. The result of this action - is .zip-file

What's the next? how i can restore from this file?
And what execltly data was backuped in this file?

The backup created from the SugarCRM admin is a zip file. All you need to do to restore it is to extract it.

The built-in Backup tool backs up only the SugarCRM files. The database has to be backed up separately, it cannot be backed up through the SugarCRM admin area.

The best tool for creating a database backup is phpMyAdmin.
