Benefits of upgrading to 5.2?

I understand the benefits of upgrading for bug fixes and feature inprovements, etc. But I ask this. I'm looking at the many plugins that bring value to my installation and wonder why should I upgrade?

Will these plugins still be available for 5.2, can the kind souls who develop them for us to use keep up?

I am wondering when and if I upgrade to 5.2 will there be any plugins compatible any time soon?

I think there are 5 now.... and even the Sugar Forum extension shows 5.1 release.

Would someone share with me some good news about upgrading ....this time?

There is no benefit today if you upgrade to 5.2 The only real (IMO) functional improvement is in Pro/Ent where you can assign partial admn rights to particular users.
Tapping into LinkedIn may or may not be an advantage for you - that's up to you to decide. Generally we (the community if I may say so) do not advice to upgrade before patch C of the respective version.

But again - if there is a particular function that you need then do it (you'll find the details in the release notes)

Thank you for that insight. For me, the value exists in my 5.1 version where every plugin works and serves its purpose. It's when you see that message daily telling you to upgrade, don't you just feel a bit pressured...

admin - top left corner - switch off the calling home function and the upgrade check. This relieves the pressure (and makes the thing faster...)

After 25 years in this business there wasn't one message "truer" than this one: Never change a running software...

Excellent advice. I do notice one thing about opensource is there are ALWAYS upgrades on a regular basis. I don't ever remember having these problems with paid software and cgi stuff.
But I love it!
