    Question Best-practice : Partners as Targets or Contacts ?

    Hi Guys,

    I have a concern about my partners. I have about 200 partners. I want them to receive my email campaigns, so I want them in Sugar. They will never be linked to opportunities.

    Is it better to have them as Targets or Contacts ?
    Does someboby had the same question once ? What are you doing ?

    I have some partners that are 10 people for the same company. So as contacts and accounts it can be easier to search them... But my logic tell me that they are not really contacts and accounts...

    What is the best practice ?

    Hi houlejo, all things being equal, I'd go with making them Contacts rather than Targets. Contacts are the focus of more sustained activity in Sugar, whereas Targets' scope is really in the CampMgt area.

    Contacts can be emailed individually, can be synchronized via the Outlook Plug-in, are the inout into the Word Plug-in, etc. Contacts can also be hinged to Opportunities which you may want to do one day.

    In that a Contact can be the subject of a Campaign just as a Target can, it appears you gain more by going the Contact route.
