Beta release of PDF Mail Merge and PDF Form letters for Community Edition

Community Edition does not have an integration for Word so doing mail merges is hard work.

SalesAgility believes that mail merge should not be dependent on Microsoft in the first instance.

So, we have written an extension to Advanced OpenSales that adds Generate Letter functions to detail view in Contacts, Leads and Accounts for sending single letters and generates letters as PDF's.

Letter templates are created in the PDF template Module in Advanced OpenSales (AOS)

For mail merge usage, we have created a Generate Letter function in the ListView of the above modules.

to MailMerge:

1. In List View simply select all the Contacts that you wish to send a letter to
2. Select Generate Letter
3. Select the Letter Templates from the list of available templates

AOS will then produce a single PDF file with the all letters merged into the template AND place a copy of of the individual letter as a PDF in the Contact history.

to send a single letter:

1. in Contact/Lead/Account detail view select Generate Letter
2. Select the letter template you wish to use

AOS will then produce a single PDF file with the letter merged into the template AND place a copy of of the letter as a PDF in the Contact history.

This sounds great.

I'm getting AOS immediately.

A question comes to mind:

How easy or hard would it be to add this mail-merge-to-PDF functionality to other Sugar modules?

For example, to the Sugar (paid version) Contracts module?

Or to add to literally any module in Sugar CE, Pro, Corp, etc. ?

I wonder, could adding your mail merge to PDF to any module, be made as simple as checking a checkbox in Module Builder or Studio?
