Default Better to relate a meeting to an Opportunity or to an Account?

    Hi,
I've been using Sugar CE for some years, but I'm not used to work with Opportunities.

Till now every meeting or call had been linked to an Account,
Now I'm starting to use Opportunities, but if I create a meeting related to an opportunity then it's not related to the Account linked to the opportunity ()

Now the problem is that in to the Account history there is no evidence of the meeting done for the opportunity

Is there a solution to this problem?

    Thanks in advance,

    Carlo Bruno

    Hi Carlo

To make an activity related to two records at the same time it is necessary to implement some specific, and not easy, customization.
The easier approach is to clone the activity whenver it is created under an opportunity.

    Carlo,

I'll give you a business rather than technical answer. If the meeting was held to work on or advance a particular sales opportunity, I would associate it with the opportunity. If it was a general meeting with the client (account), not in pursuit of a specific sales deal, I would associate it with the account.

This way, you can quickly see all of the activities and meetings and "work" that you have done to bring in this sales deal. You can know whether you have had the sales demonstration, whether you've had the meeting to negotiate price, etc. for this specific opportunity. I would think that would be more valuable than knowing how many meetings (on a variety of topics, some of which may not pertain to a deal) you had with an account.

Examine the question from the business side to get the answer that works best for your business. The software will work either way.
