    Default Campaign Problem

    Hello all:

    We have been using SugarCRM version 4.5.0f campaigns successfully without any problems (other than bounce handling being broken from day one), however we just sent out a new campaign yesterday to around 2200 recipients. This was scheduled to fire at 1:00am, and it seems to have sent multiple emails out to a target list. Here are the details:

    • The campaign has 3 target lists, one with 448, one with 1752, and one with 9 recipients.
    • The database has up to 10 records per email on some leads.
    • I do not know at this point if 10 messages were actually sent, if this is the case this is very bad indeed
    • The multiple recipient list appears to be from one target list of the three, but I don’t think all 1752 records have multiples
    • There is one record at the beginning of this target list with an empty email address, I don’t know if this may have caused a problem


    At this point I am completely at a loss and in hot water over this since we may have spanmed our customers. I really need to get to the bottom of this and would be happy to provide any more information as necessary to diagnose. Do we need to upgrade our version? Do we need the Enterprise version? Please help..

    are you sure you haven't go the cron job sending the emails running multiple times. we've had this happen in the past. the cron job interval was set to (eg) 10 mins, and the submission of the job hadn't completed within 10 mins so it kept resubmitting the same jobs over and over again until we noticed.

    Thanks for your feedback, I will look into this aspect. A bit more information for diagnostics:

    • the campaign was set to fire at 1:30am, and everything started off as normal.
    • several individual emails were sent UNTIL
    • at 1:31am apparently the system starting sending two copies per recipient
    • at 1:32am the system started sending three copies per recipient
    • and so on, customers at the end of the list ended up getting over 25 copies!!


    We are looking at purchasing the Professional version now, but we have another campaign to send in a few days and nobody want's to use Sugar unless we can figure out this problem. If the cron job fired multiple times I would think that all recipients would have received the same number of multiples, unless as sugar processes the list they are removed from the pending queue. Is this the behavior?
