Unhappy Can this be achieved using Sugar Professional?

    dear all

I've been asked if and how it could be possible to achieve a result just like the one I am attaching to this message (as a JPG) within the REPORTS section.
In fact, all data and columns that you can see on the JPG are already stored on the CRM.

Directors want the CRM to output something like the JPG you see, which is actually an Excel file constantly updated by someone within the company. Obviously, directors are quite upset with the fact that a CRM has been chosen, bought and filled with data... and there is still someone consuming time to update the "old way report" to get this output!

My idea was to creare some kind of reports similar to each table, like:

    All proposals
    Proposals to New Clients
    Analysis by Client
    etc...
[SEE THE JPG to understand what I mean..]

and then adding a custom page on the dashboard, and adding those reports as dashlets.

Honestly, I doubt this can be reached, at least easily.
Reports might be created as you can see in the JPG (but maybe you can confirm this to me?).

But what I find hard is to implement those dashlets WITH NO CHARTS in the dashboard.
Do you think this is a good solution?
How would you create something like this?

Please help me if you can. :-)

    take good care
    Marco

Unhappy Re: Can this be achieved using Sugar Professional?

    Hi,
as I didn't get any answer by the Sugar PRO support (guess it's Christmas vacation :-P) I have also prepared a snapshot which explains you what I'm trying to do to achieve what Directors need.

In fact, I can create separate reports to get at least some of the columns they want.

    But:

    1) Percentages are missing
    2) I cannot merge them, to get one single big table :-(

Can you please help me with this? Thanks everyone, and enjoy your Xmas time
    Marco

Take a look at our KINAMU Reporter. The Framework is also more flexible then the sugar reporter and requests like yours can be fulfilled or if required with moderate effort added.

Works on all release past 5.2. e.g. the Screenshots in the Release Notes for release 2.5 are taken on a 6.1 CE release.

    regards, christian.

mmm... first test report generates some error unhandled! Guess something is wrong with filters or with our version of Sugar PRO. Anyway, this is not really nice to be shown to my boss

    I'll do some other test...

Anyway: do you have news concerning the 2.5 version release date? I guess that might be a testing "start point" for our CRM, and for a following Premium purchase (if we think your stuff is stable and ok enough for our scope). I also looked for pricing on your site but coulnd't find out

    thanks again

    Christian: one more request.
Do you give any chance to try the premium plugin (even for the 1.5 version) so that we can test it, and try to see if it can be useful to our approach/needs?

    thanks
    Marco

EDIT: maybe it's just a mistake of mine, but I cannot get beyond any of the reports that I could easily do with the integrated Reports module within Sugar. Maybe it's all about the Premium version, then... I'll wait for your feedback before proceding.

    Marco,

There are some real limitations with what you can do in Sugar reports. I used to have the Enterprise version where you could conceivably create advanced reporting but it was pretty obtuse. I would highly recommend the JasperSoft tools. I use the Open Source versions of their JasperServer and iReport tools. You use iReport against your database and publish to JasperServer. You do need Tomcat running and some other tools that my Sysadmin rolled out here.

But in terms of being able to achieve 'whatever management asks for' it has always worked for me. There's a bit of learning curve of course but it's worth it in the long run.

thanks a lot for your suggestion.
Actually I've already heard and suggested the Jasper Tools, but the fact that it needs some work from the IT guys plus some hard work, they'd prefer a "easier" solution as the KINAMU might be.

Therefore I'd wait for Christian to maybe provide us a Premium trial version, and then decide if Jasper it's worth the time and internal cost to be applied.

Thank you very much indeed for the contribution. BTW, how long did it take to you to set everything up?

    Marco
