Can users see other users data?

I am interesting in using SugarCRM for a website lead generation backend. I need to assign leads to each user and only that user can see the data. I need to make sure that there is no way other users can see each others data. The admin can see all Can this be done, is this the best tool to use?

I also have a similar business need.

I have 2 users: USER1 and USER2

I want that both USER1 and USER2 be able to see only the Accounts, or Contacts, etc that are assigned to them only.

Any help will be appreciated.

Sugar Open Source provides for an assigned-to user. The assigned-to flag is a convenience when filtering searches and is the triggering mechanism for assignment alert emails. But, the assigned-to notion does not carry over into visibility restrictions; all records in Sugar Open Source are visible by all other users.

Sugar Professional and Sugar Enterprise offer the notion of a team whereby members of the team can view other team members' data, but not data from other teams' data. Given that a team can represent an individual it is also possible to have visibility restricted to a specific user.
