Default Combining Open Source with Professional Edition

    Hi all,

I'm new to Sugar CRM and evaluating the options for deploying it in my Professional Services firm.

    A couple of questions:
    1. Is it possible to combine the Open Source edition with the Professional Edition? In my case, I want the marketing team to have the advanced features of the Professional Edition (e.g. bespoke data reporting), but the rest of the firm only needs basic access to the contacts panel. I'd like them to use the (free) Open Source Edition and for the marketing department only to use the Professional Edition.

    2. Are there any adaptations/plug-ins to tailor Sugar CRM specifically for a Professional Services application? I'd particularly like to be able to add contacts to marketing "events", whereas the concept of a contact vs. a lead is not entirely applicable to our business.

    Many thanks for your help.

    Best,
    Russell.

Why not? Wouldn't it be possible to set them up to point to the same database?

Just because it is against the SugarLIcense.

You can only work with Professional or with Open Source, not both.
