CE is fine for several Operating CRM tasks, but it doesn't support an Analytic CRM.
Under CE you can go for all customer life cycle, but you will not be able to:
- restrict access to information (Teams feature in PRO);
- create workflows (Workflows feature in PRO);
- access SugarCRM by a mobile device (Sugar Wireless in PRO);
- etc

Does the CE edition have any reports? Is this something only held for the paid versions? I have 6.2.3 installed and can't find out how to run a single report.
Sugar CE is really good, just try some safe version not beta ones.
Another feature that sugar CE do not have and could be very usefull is the reports module, which is available just on sugar PRO.

In SugarForge (SugarForge: Open Source CRM, SugarCRM, Sugar CRM) you could find reports modules usable with CE (different to the reports module in PRO edition off course), e.g. ZuckerReports or KINAMU Reporter.
