Custom field conversion

Hey all, well I reallly like Sugar but just ran into a total brick wall that seems to be acknowledged here. You can't map custom fields from a lead record to a contact/account record when converted. For my business - specialized finance software - the standard (uneditable) Sugar fields are totally inappropriate. But without the ability to map lead fields --> account/contacts the software is pretty much useless as we capture lots of data in our leads that sales people need on the contact record.

This seems like a major oversite to me, I can't believe I'm the only one who needs this? Coming from an SFDC shop I guess I got a bit spoiled with this capability.
