Demote (de-convert) Contact to Lead

Hi There,

Does anyone know how to demote (de-convert) a Contact to a Lead? From what I have read there doesn't seem to be any facility to do this in Sugar itself, so the process probably needs to be some sort of scripted solution - or workaround.

The reason that I want to do this is that we have a number of entries in Contacts that are in fact Leads. This is due to the fact that when we started using Sugar we were not using the Leads module - and so everything just went under Contacts. So I am essentially looking to perform a one-time cleanup on our data.

I know that I could export the Contact record data out to a CSV and then import as a Lead, but with this approach I will lose the email history with the person in question - and I need to retain this.

So has anyone else worked through such a process? Appreciate any insights you might be able to offer.

You willl lose the relationship between Contact and History if you export to CSV ... but if you write a SQL script to Insert Leads then the task becomes more straightforward and relationships can be maintained in Leads
