Develop an equipment database to link products to projects

Hello, I am new to sugar. We like to keep track of particular key products amongst our projects such that we can search and report on these particular products - for warranty, history, etc. Would it be possible to create new module(s) for companies and their products such that we can link these entities to each project we open in Sugar? There are probably many ways to handle this - I am looking for some thoughts/guidance.

I think I ran across at least one or two modules in the SugarForce/SugarExchange that handles equipment/inventory of some form or another. Have you evaluated those modules for appropriateness to your needs already?
