    Default Direct Import to MySQL

We're unfamiliar with Sugar CRM but have used Navicat to populate MySQL databases before.

If we wanted to transfer 4-5,000 contacts from another MySQL database into Prospects or Leads or Accounts, can we do this.

If so are there any index files we need to be aware of

I moved >6000 accounts and >10000 contacts, opps, notes etc from Maximizer via sql7 straight to the MYSql database. The only tip I would give you is create a test entry for each table type in the web interface first. I used MS access and linked each by ODBC.

You can also dump your data as a CSV, then use the import functionality to map the CSV into the proper fields within Sugar

Thanks for the tip which is great as the data is on Max 8.

We've been using Maximizer for 10 years and have a lot of contacts and accounts to move. The reason we're looking at Sugar is that Maximizer do not have a online version so we needed to move the data.

Looks like I'll be spending Xmas testing the database.

As regards the import of a CSV file, it seems to have a limit due to memory and resources. Direct import is better as long as the Index files are OK

Shoulldn't answer my own post but a tip for Maximizer users is to export as XML and then import to MySql through something like Navicat or similar.

    Will have Xmas after all...

    Hello,
i don't know linux but it'seems to be same like OSX.
For connect from another machine (XP with SugarCRM) and OSX Server (MySql), i need first configure MySQL with "remote access" enable and i think you must give the remote IP.
On remote machine (my laptop), i need first etablish a ssh connection with OSX Server Administrator credential, and then etablish a connection to the DB MySQL with database root credential.
Else i can not etablish connection.

I think that is same with Linux who host your MySQL database.

    Osx Server 10.5.8
    Apache - MySql - Php built-in
    sorry for my good english
