Default Dulpicating, Copying, and Migrating Custom Layouts

I run 2 identical installs of sugar 3.5.1d; a production and test server. I want to be able to easily replicate all of the layout changes I made to the test server to the production server. There is no change in fields or db structure between the two.
I have tried copying the custom directory from test to product but that didn't make a difference. Is there another place that
holds the custom layouts? What files do I need to copy to replicate the layouts?

Unhappy Re: Dulpicating, Copying, and Migrating Custom Layouts

I'm in the same situation, but we do add custom fields to our test server and them move the files over to the prod server. I export custom fields from test and import into the prod. The fields show up in the edit/details screen of course, but they don't retain data. I've also run custom field repair. What is the one magic item I'm not doing?

    Running 4.0.1 pro on both.

I'll hang my head in shame for still not watching the apache error log before posting to a forum. It was a file permissions error on the modules fields.php file under /cache/dynamic_fields
