Duplicate Button - on Leads Tab

How does Sugar know which fields to duplicate when the duplicate button is clicked. How do I tell it not to duplicate certain fields? Everything I find in the training manual is about duplicate merge. I know how to do that. And how to make fields "mergable" my own word.

Any one have any custom code examples of how to remove fields on the leads tab, so they are not duplicated when you click the duplicate button??? Thanks!
