dynamically selecting drop downs

i was wondering has anyone came up with solution on how to dynamically control drop down boxes where selecting value in one drop down(parent) changes the value of the second drop down or child.

I have tried with adding some java script in editview.php but with no luck

If anyone had got into this problem i would appreciate if he could give me some advice on how to solve this issue
