E-Mail Problems

Hi there,
im using SugarCRM 4.2.1a and i have massive problems with the different email facilities. First and most annoying is the fact that non-ASCII Characters ocassionally are not displayed correctly. Most of incoming email i get contains german umlaute and they are almost unreadable. I've already followed multiple postings in this forum and patched different parts of my sugar, but i do not have the time to do this after every sugar update!
Next the sugarmail client does not save outgoing attachments. That means if i look into my outbox, theres the mail body, but without the attachments! It is inacceptable that the outbox stores the sent mails not as they are sent.
Another most annoying problem is that the drafts facility is not capable of storing the date of the drafts correctly, rendering the whole drafts system almost unusable. When i compose a mail and save it as a draft, everything is fine. Then i re-open the draft, continue editing, and save it as a draft again, it seems there are simply two hours added up to the timestamp. What the hell...? Also attachments are not handled correctly when re-saving a draft mail....

I think that was all... I like to use Sugar as it has some cool features, but the mail system is making me nuts!

Wait until you discover that deleting an email from your inbox takes you to the all emails section (not back to your inbox as you'd expect)... or you discover that your inbox, which you decided to sort by the most recent email first and then going back in time keeps switch back to the other way round (oldest first)...... If you've only found your points you've only scratched the surface of the constant joy that is the mail section .

Both posters are correct.

The mail section is FULL of bugs, but it seems to be a low priority for the sugar team. Most of these problems should have been solved ages ago, so it seems that the sugar team is simply not interested in fixing them.

Would anyone care to start a running list of email bugs? That might help the problem.

Also, see my post (above) polling on whether or not to drop the mail option completely.

My take is - use a free product and live with the consequences. I am also not happy in that a known bug got dropped, but so be it. The fixes you need are for 1- the subject line, and 2- the email content. Took me just a few minutes to fix.

Does this apply to attachments as well? Yesterday i got an email containing files with umlaute in their names! I cannot access these files!

My take is - use a free product and live with the consequences. I am also not happy in that a known bug got dropped, but so be it. The fixes you need are for 1- the subject line, and 2- the email content. Took me just a few minutes to fix.

My main problems are;

1) If the fix is out there why don't Sugar incorporate it into the main release?

2) You may need to make this fix every time you apply a patch until Sugar do get round to including it.

Most other free products would be grateful that someone fixed the problem and include the fix in the next release, but hey, this systems got Sugar Quality .
