We are looking at swapping out of maximizer into Sugar. It looks good but we can't see a simple and short way to log a phone call to a contact. Can anyone suggest the best way to do this? Thanks

Hi carlton:
From Contact
1. Find Contact
2. Visit DetailView
3. In Activities subpanel, use Schedule Call and mark as "Held"
4. Save
From Activities tab
1. Schedule Call
2. Mark as "Held"
3. Select "Contacts" as record type and use QuickSearch field to identify Contact
4. Save
The Activities route is probably fastest if you have a batch of Contacts for which you want to add Call notes. Use the Contact route if you have other Contact edits in addition to Call notes.
Our online documentation and Sugar University Online Library can help you in these decisions (here is URL of specific Sugar University topic).

It isn't too much quicker, but we added another shortcut below "Schedule Call" called "Received Call" and used a URL parameter to set the fields to "inbound" and "held". Saves a second or two...

Hi Scott_Savage, every second counts. I urge you to consider contributing this mod using this form so we can roll the change into baseline.

Take a look at this module from PACTA, http://www.sugarforge.org/projects/pactacallcenter/
This automatically allow you to make calls directly from Sugar and als logs incoming and out calls according to the description

Hi,Originally Posted by carlton
Pacta actually logs every call with number@country, duration, start date & time, answered: yes/no for every inbound and outbound call. The call is logged in the history panel of the contact (lead).
Additionally when a call comes a new tab opens with the contacts/leads detail view opens making it easy to start entering notes.
When you activate the Skype support in Sugar you can also click on the phone number to dial out with Pacta.
Right now Pacta should work with no extra hardware with Skype any many mobile phones, Tapi is in the works.
I ask Lauri to start a thread for user feedback ....
