Default Easy way to check Permissions in modules?

I have changed all the permissions in the file to 777. But the installer is telling me that there is some "not writable" still. Is there a faster way to check these files other than one at a time? I have changed permissions, then tried it, and checked each files permissions to see if they are correct and found none wrong. I know I have to be skipping one or something.

I'm having the same problem with the latest version on my new Linux server. I set permissions in every possible way I can think of that would work and it still doesn't.

    chmod 777 sugar/ -R
and various CHOWNs and nothing works.
