Wink Email module fails to send to "selected" contacts (with workaround)

The email module appears to have a few problems:

I was having problems when I used the "select" button to look up names to insert into the "To:" field. Basically, the message did not get sent and I was left with a status of "Send Error" in my "Sent Emails" log.

I soon worked out that the email module could not handle the semi-colon that is placed directly after the email address of a selected contact. Fortunately, I found a posting on this forum that solved the problem, namely:

    1. For a single, "selected" contact, delete the semi-colon and trailing space that appears after the selected email address
    2. For multiple, "selected" contacts, delete the space that appears after the first contact's semi-colon. Also, delete both the semi-colon and the trailing space that appears after the last contact's email address.

There is clearly some major issues with the email module if one has to resort to such fine-tuning.

The semi-colon issue is not the only problem: once the email has been sent, the "Sent Emails" log incorrectly lists the recipients. While the log correctly shows that, say, 5 recipients were sent the message, in each case it lists the "Contact" as being whomever was the first person listed in the To: field.

Is there any chance of this being fixed?

Thanks for that tip! I couldn't figure out why mail was not working!

Did anyone find a fix for the PHP script for this - using the workaround on production sites is not really viable?

    Thanks for your hekp.
