Default Email settings not handling host name

Moved this over to help where it should have been! Paris

In Sugar 5.1b, Centos (Linx) PHP 5, etc....

I am local to the machine, Go to emails, select settings, Select Mail Accounts, enter all the info.
    Select Test.

Wait for 3-5 minutes, host name not found.

I double checked the resolve.conf file and deleted out the local gateway7. Test again no joy. The nameservers are set to the opendns web site 208.67.222.222 and .220.220. From a putty command line connection I can ping pop.1and1.com with no problem. If I put the IP address in instead of the host name connection is made quickly.

Is there some other setting somewhere that would be causing trouble or is this a Sugar issue?

    Thanks Paris
