    Default Exporting Data

When data is exported in .csv format from the contact section, quite often, there are multiple entries for a single contact in the CRM. This means, that on the Excel sheet there is duplication, even though on the CRM, it's a single entry.

Any idea on how this can be fixed?

Are the ID values the same across the duplicate contact names? (in the CSV)

Yes they are actually. There is nothing differentiating the two entries.

That's pretty strange. Does the same thing occur if you only export those contacts that appear multiple times on the already exported CSV?

    Angel,

If I try importing only the entries that have already duplicated themselves, they are duplicating themselves again. Hope I understood your question right.

Sounds like a bug, a problem with the data itself or combination thereof. I'd post it as a bug with a sampling of the data that is causing you the problem at hand.

You can log bugs at http://bugs.sugarcrm.com

You might also want to try to contact the Sugar support folks, as it sounds like it will require some hands on examination in order to resolve it. Of course, you can always contact a Sugar partner (such as myself or others) for the same, but be prepared to pay a fee in either case.

If I were to log a bug, would I need to pay to have someone look into that too? Or the fee is only applicable only if I request specific attention from your team. Request you to give me an idea of what the fee would be.

The fee is only applicable if you need someone like myself or Sugar support (through the purchase of support packs) to look at the data/do hands on analysis of the problem.

If you log it as a bug, the Sugar guys aren't going to charge you, but you may have to wait for a while for a fix, and even then, it may only come in the form of a general bug fix within a patch as bug reports are not for obtaining support.

I'll send you a private message with fee schedule for our services.

I have seen this before, maybe. Do you have the contacts that show up more than once attached to more than one account?

For example if you go to accounts and then to a detailview, you can add contacts to those accounts. There is not stipulation that they have to be associated witrh that account, you can add anybody.

If you add a contact, say Bob Hope, to 3 different accounts then bob will show up 3 times on the list.

    Hi,

I just checked it - fortunately this is not the case. The contact shows up three times in the select box but there just the relationships are displayed. The underlying entity (the contact) appears only once in the database.

In order to investigate this problem properly Raj must make a dump of the contacts table available (not the csv) there might be a couple of reasons for his problem (one of them being that his csv includes deleted records)
