Is there any type of open source field service management? Either something to works with SugarCRM or it could be a standalone type deal..... I just need something for field service management!!

    Thanks

If you can tell us what kinds of things this module would have to do maybe we can help. I cant remember any specific modules already built but maybe we can build one.

I need something for the IT field. Ex.

A customer calls from CA and says they have a LCD out in their laptop. Let's say that I already entered my techs in the state of CA so all I need to do now is run a search of techs in say a 50 mile radias. I pull up let's say 3 techs. I want to be able to send a Work Order to all 3 stating here is the place, time and scope of work. If you want this work order please respond to the email or call in.

Once a tech accepts, the work order is assigned to him/her.

Once they arrive on site, the tech calls to check in. They also call to give updates on the job. Once done they call to check out and give the overview of what they have done. From there the workorder is considered closed for the customer but still open on my end until the tech emails the paper work and pictures of the job. Once that is receieved, ticket is sent to accounting to pay the tech.

    That's basically all I need.

Most of that is childs-play in module builder and maybe a logic hook to send out the emails. But the '50 mile radius' thing would have to be written and a zip code database acquired from somewhere. I've written such things in the past and it's not that hard but I can't find that anyone has written this yet.

Would you be interested in writing something for this? I can find the zip code database.

Sorry, I don't do outside work anymore. Post something in the classified forum, there are many people qualified enough to write something like this there.

Ok, can you please tell me what exactly to post? That way the devs will understand what I'm looking for
