Question Financial Apps that Integrate Well with SugarCRM

As we've found less than adequate support for SugarCRM/Quickbooks integration, my company is now considering migrating to another financial accounting application. Can anybody provide some recommendations for Quickbooks alternatives that play well with Sugar?

Ideally we're looking for one that can sync data both ways in real time.

Is anybody out there using something that works great?

    Thanks!

Wow-- I posted this yesterday and now one day later it shows up in the #1 spot on Google for searches about integrating Sugar with a financial application. Is this such a rare topic?

So... nobody has ever integrated SugarCRM successfully with a financial application?

No... no, I just can't believe that. ... the benefits of reducing duplicate and inconsistent customer data are just too great to ignore.

I have heard of a Sage connector in Europe - http://www.salesagility.com/index.ph...tegration.html

In the USA clearly QuickBooks is the dominant product in SMB space - and your other post I felt correctly summarized the situation.

I'm not sure whether it's considered rare in requirements terms. My experience in customer scenarios is that most people don't want to pay to have it done. It's not a difficult piece of work to do though. Most financial applications have a csv or text file import function. Providing you know what you want to go back and what the format is then it shouldn't be difficult.

Half the problem lies with the financial application vendors.Sugar isn't really difficult to integrate with anything providing you either have the right tools or skills to script it. Most of the financial app vendors expect developers to pay something to build integrations for their products. The other common complication is that you only get read access to the application and write happens through a text file. Certified accounts packages don't like direct writing. Quickbooks and Sage are both good examples of products that only provide read only drivers.

That's why there isn't a plethora of solutions, but it isn't difficult to do. I'll explore doing an integration with OpenBravo when they support a UK chart of accounts. I don't think they do yet. SQL Ledger would likely be pretty easy to do as well. Integration tends to have been done by partners that have run into requirements from customers. We'll likely be tackling Access Dimensions as a product but I think that is a UK only product

Actually the QuickBooks Web Connector (QBWC - free from Intuit) provides read and write access to a shared QuickBooks database on one side of the interface, and a read/write web services interface on the other side, to which encrypted services may be registered. It represents an ideal and comprehensive interface for an ongoing two-way synchronization. CSV imports and exports are not terribly satisfactory as they require manual intervention by the user each time.

The most important advantage of SugarCRM, they are capable to provide the source code with their product. So, you can easily want to integrate your system with the other systems.
