    Default Forge projects

browsing through the forge looking for additional functionality .....

there are a lot of dead projects in there .... diminishes its usefulness.

there are a lot of projects with proprietary licenses .... i thought that was what the exchange was for .... the forge i thought was for genuinely open source projects ... apologies if i'm wrong :-)

Hi salesagility, yes, SugarForge contains projects at various stages in their life cycle. As a true forge, many projects are in development; some start with a flurry but fizzle out while others keep ticking along.

We're at 312 projects now constituting 2.5M+ downloads. Overall I think this is remarkable given SugarForge's <2 year stint.

The "Development Status" category (e.g., "Planning", "Beta", "Mature") is meant to assist browsers but not all project admins establish this setting (even after repeated admonishments!!).

Regarding licenses, Sugar places no restrictions on the type of license a SugarForge project admin may employ. The same is true for SugarExchange listings, though you'll find many more commercial licenses on SugarExchange given the marketplace nature of SugarExchange.

I hope this helps. Thanks for raising the topic.
